Community

How do communities prepare themselves to engage the insurance ecosystem for solutions, support, and guidance?
  • Insurance for Good: Serves as a community of practice for communities and other public sector bodies that curates frameworks, delivers capacity-building programs and incubate open-source risk transfer approaches. 
  • Government Finance Officers Association: Develops tools and insights to prepare finance heads for state and local governments for large scale disasters (for example, GFOA’s popular Rainy Day Calculator).
  • GEOS Institute: Focuses on enabling community-level access to the tools, analytics, and other materials required to advance responsible climate planning. GEOS sponsors the Southeast Navigators Network and other technical assistance programs.
  • National League of Cities: Provides a series of policy, operational, and training capabilities for 3,000 towns, villages, and cities, focusing on pre-event climate risk reduction.
  • SBP: Provides training to local government officials and places full-time Fellows into communities to facilitate grant applications, conduct community engagement, and guide other resilience services.

  • United Policyholders: Represents California policy holders in regulatory and legislative matters.
  • Reinsurance Association of America: Represents U.S. reinsurance sector as the most climate-engaged insurance trade association in the U.S.
  • Smart Home America: Provides information on building specific risk reduction, and is the primary proponent behind state funding of IBHS Fortified Home designation. 
  • U.S. Chamber: Represents U.S. businesses as large lobbying organization.
